Atiku Will Continue Contesting for the Presidency of Nigeria as Long as He is in Good Health

Published:

After the 2023 presidential election that made Bola Ahmed Tinubu the president of Nigeria, netizens have wondered if other candidates will run against him in the next election.

In a recent interview on the Hausa service of the Voice of America interview in Abuja, one of the presidential candidates, Atiku, was present.

Here, he disclosed that he would continue to contest for the presidency of Nigeria as long as he was alive and in good health.

In his exact words, the PDP presidential candidate for 2023 said, “Of course, I will keep contesting again as long as I am alive and healthy.”

He mentioned that citizens of the country have not seen the last of him on the poles.

He sighted an example, using the former US President Abraham Lincoln who contested about seven times and had a win finally.

Thereby, likening himself to the former US president.

Furthermore, Atiku mentioned that his current political party might not have the full capacity to push him to win in the next election.

So, if he must emerge as president, the party needs strong collaboration with other parties.

Atiku has contested for the presidency of Nigeria three times in a row already and is not giving up anytime soon.

The former vice president of Nigeria was on the ballot in 2007, 2019, and 2023.

We expect him to appear there in 2027, even if he will be 81 years old by then.

Atiku and Peter Obi’s meeting

Atiku will run for the presidency of Nigeria in 2027 and it looks like Peter Obi has the same plans.

However, the former vice president has affirmed that he has no misunderstanding with his fellow 2023 presidential candidate.

The two politicians met last week and Atiku said this at the meeting.

In his words, “This is to anybody that thinks there is going to be a misunderstanding between me and Obi.

Let me assure you that not even a small issue is going to happen between us.”

Also, he said he would strongly support anyone who would be president in the next presidential election.
