Federal Government Initiates UBE Effective Schools Program Across 36 States and FCT.

Published:

The Federal Government has started implementing the Universal Basic Education (UBE) Effective Schools Program in 111 schools nationwide.

The Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, made this public in a Monday meeting in Abuja.

UBEC, State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs), and head teachers of UBE Effective Schools and coordinating directors attended this meeting.

Bobboyi attended the meeting through the Deputy Executive Secretary, Prof. Bala Zakari.

Zakari announced on his behalf that the commission established the effective schools program to solve learning challenges.

They also want to offer Nigerian children an opportunity to get a basic level of education, providing them with the right tools.

Furthermore, he expressed UBEC’s commitment to securing a conducive learning environment for school-aged children in Nigeria.

According to him, the Effective Schools Program would improve UBE delivery efficiency.

One of the ways it can do that is by ensuring all educational programs meet minimum standards.

In addition, he said that after engaging and deliberating with stakeholders, the commission kick-started the process of actualization.

Bobboyi Urges Schools to Transform Effective Schools Program into Day-to-Day Activities

The Effective Schools Program aims to have three schools in each state and the FCT, thus covering 111 previously UBEC E-learning centers.

Hence, he expressed pleasure at their significant strides toward their goals.

Notably, they have procured and distributed instructional materials to all the 111 effective schools, along with tablets for learning.

They have also installed satellite-based learning equipment and trained head teachers and teachers in ICT knowledge.

Bobboyi recognized how rewarding their efforts have been in forming the building blocks for the actualization of the ESP initiative.

In appreciation, Bobboyi acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders, especially head teachers and the administrative authority at the school level.

He attributed the success to their efforts, calling them the implementers of the initiative and custodians of the curricula.

Furthermore, he geared them up, encouraging them to transform the Effective Schools Program ideals into functional day-to-day activities on the school premises.
