This announcement came at the heels of a meeting between Leo Varadkar, Ireland’s Prime Minister, and the Gemini co-founders, with IDA (Industrial Development Agency) representatives.

The IDA is the entity which is in charge of foreign investment in Ireland.

How is Gemini Handling the Situation?

In his speech, Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss shows the company’s appreciation saying

“We appreciate the IDA and Irish government for their support as we venture into the next thrilling steps in our journey.

We are anticipating becoming a part of the Dublin community’s vibrant tech as well as adding to it” says the Winklevoss twins.

They went further to say that crypto is transformative just like the internet.

They are dedicated to opening up the opportunities it represents.

Through a tweet, Tyler Winklevoss, Gemini CEO expressed that their deliberation on Dublin yesterday was focused on

“the heartfelt promise of cryptocurrency and the significance of common sense regulation to achieve that promise.

According to the CEO, Gemini believes that MiCA (Markets in Crypto Assets) and the newly adopted regulatory structure to control cryptos in the EU (European Union) “is the common sense rule”.

He further says that from now onwards, Gemini is making Ireland its European headquarters.

Furthermore, Gemini is 1st cryptocurrency firm that was registered as a VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) by Ireland’s Central Bank in July last year.

During an interview with the local news outlet, the Gemini’s President, Cameron Winklevoss stated that Ireland will become the firm’s “first step” into the rest of Europe.

this is taking place immediately after the Markets in crypto assets (MiCA) is fully executed throughout the European Union by 2025.

Is Gemini Still Residing in the United States?

At present, Gemini is not planning to leave the United States completely.

“We aren’t vacating the United States completely, we will go on fighting the good fight there.

However, we are aware that one can vote with one’s feet and that is our right and we will try that when faced with the harsh environment” says Cameron Winklevoss.

Earlier this week, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss went to London and met with FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) officials and the Bank of England.

They hinted that the UK may be the crypto exchange’s new base.
