A 2016 Olympic Swimmer and Silver medalist named Siobhan–Marie O ̓Connor will take part in producing a new biopic movie.
The movie tells the story of a woman who swims through the English Channel.
Siobhan-Marie O ̓Connor dedicated six months to training Hollywood actress Daisy Ridley.
Meanwhile, Daisy Ridley will act as Trudy Ederle in “Young Woman and the Sea.”
Siobhan-Marie O ̓Connor won the Olympic silver medal at the 2016 Commonwealth Games.
However, she went on retirement in 2021 after battling through ulcerative colitis.
Olympic Swimmer Excited About Her Role in New Movie
Siobhan spoke to BBC News concerning her work with the movie production crew.
The silver Medalist said, “If that was something I could continue doing and make a career out of it I would love that.”
Moreover, 28-year-old Siobhan has been searching for something to do outside of competitive swimming.
Her focus has been on training and private coaching.
The movie titled Young Woman and the Sea tells the story of “Trudy.”
Siobhan said it’s shocking that many have yet to learn about Trudy’s story.
However, she was ashamed that, like others, she was unaware of Trudy’s many successes.
According to Siobhan, Trudy is a trailblazer in women’s sports.
Siobhan was amazed at Ridley’s commitment during swimming lessons.
However, Ridley found it difficult to do the front crawl.
Also, watching the movie did not show any form of discomfort on the part of Ridley.
Siobhan said her involvement with Ridley will not be forgotten too soon.
Meanwhile, Ridley’s popularity grew after starring in Star Wars.
After a training exercise in London, both ladies went to Bulgaria to shoot the movie in the Black Sea.
Furthermore, Siobhan trained with Ridley at two-day intervals to build her level of endurance and technique.
Siobhan’s coaching efforts resulted in a cameo job on set. Siobhan said Young Woman on the Sea is an experience she will never forget.
