The Charity Commission scrutinized media Personality, Naomi Campbell’s charity foundation, Fashion for Relief over allegations from UNICEF.
Moreover, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund reported to the watchdog that it had no dealings with Fashion for Relief charity.
The incident emerged after Naomi Campbell charity claimed to have a working understanding with UNICEF.
UNICEF UK, in an interview with BBC News, said it has not partnered with Fashion for Relief at any time.
The body said it did not receive funds from an event held by Fashion for Relief in 2019.
Moreover, the Charity Commission confirmed receiving a complaint from UNICEF in 2022 on Fashion for Relief.
The regulator commenced investigations into Naomi Campbell and Fashion of Relief.
The Charity Commission investigation revealed that Fashion for Relief was not remitting money as it should to promised organizations.
Fashion for Relief spent money funding the extravagant lives of Naomi and two board of trustees.
Meanwhile, the watchdog has removed Fashion for Relief from the list of charity organizations.
Furthermore, the regulator banned Naomi Campbell from partaking in charity activities for 5 years.
Also, the watchdog banned trustee Veronica Chou from charity work for 4 years and Bianka Hellmich for 9 years.
Naomi Campbell and Fashion for Relief Faces Allegations
In 2019, Fashion for Relief organized a catwalk show at the British Museum.
The funds realized were said to be given to the Mayor Fund for London and UNICEF.
However, UNICEF UK claimed Fashion for Relief did not give it a dime from its 2019 catwalk show.
Also, UNICEF said it has not conferred Naomi with an official title or role.
It added that there is an ongoing investigation into Naomi’s claims of being a UNICEF envoy.
Moreover, UNICEF and the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) are working to unravel a supposed official meeting in which Campbell was conferred UNICEF envoy by Boris Johnson in 2018.
According to UNICEF, it confers an ambassadorial status to those who have for years supported it.
Apart from UNICEF complaints against Fashion for Relief, the Save the Children Fund and the Mayor Fund for London claim the charity owes money.
