Sadio Mane Steals the spotlight as Ronaldo gifts him a Penalty in Al Nassr’s King’s Cup Win


Ronaldo unselfishly gave up a penalty he was to take, allowing Sadio Mane – the Senegalese winger to take the shot.

This happened during the King Cup of Champions played on Sat, April 27, between Al-Nassr and Al-Khaleej.

The Portuguese superstar just returned from suspension after the game against Al-Hilal a month ago and had already scored a brace.

In a bid to boost his teammate’s confidence, Ronaldo gave Mane a chance to take the penalty shoot which turned out a win.

The former FC Bayern Munich player – Mane utilized this opportunity to rise to the spotlight by scoring the second goal in the game.

Mane had also starred in Ronaldo’s absence where he scored a brace in a game against Al Fayha in the Saudi League.

The game eventually ended in a 3-1 victory for Al-Nassir.

After losing out of the Saudi Super Cup, and also losing Ronaldo to a suspension due to a red card, Al-Nassir had been put under pressure.

Sadio Mane stepped up and brought the Victory home with the joint effort of a sniper header from Abdulelah Al-Amri.

Al-Nassr beats Al-Khaleej 3-1

Coming back from suspension, Ronaldo scored a brilliant opener in this match and played a role in the second game by giving a penalty to Sadio Mane.

Mane did not disappoint by scoring the second goal after getting encouraged by Ronaldo. The goal doubled Al-Nassir’s lead against Al-Khaleej.

The 39-year-old then sealed the victory for the club by scoring his second goal in the match, securing their spot in the King’s Cup of Champions final.

This last goal by the Al-Nassr designated penalty shooter lands him at a total of 38 goals in all competitions this season.

Despite his age, Ronaldo keeps proving that he is still in touch with his goal-scoring skills and he is prepared for Euro 2024 which comes up this summer

Fawaz Al-Torais scored the only goal for the away team and the match ended in a 3-1 win for Al-Nassr.

Al-Nassir will meet for the final with their rivals this May 31, 2024.
