Sevilla Agrees On Terms With Garcia Piementia To Be Their New Coach On A One-Year Deal

Spanish football club, Sevilla, is set to appoint Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta as their next manager, on a one-year deal.

This announcement is a few days after departing from his previous Spanish side Las Palmas.

Significantly, this would be the second senior managerial job of the former Barcelona academy coach.

According to Seville Spanish reporter Maximo Ramirez, Garcia Pimienta’s contract is till June 2025, with an option of extension.

According to All Football, the deal is almost done, and it’s set to be officially signed by the two parties.

Negotiations between Sevilla and Garcia Pimienta have been ongoing for two days now.

The agreement is said to be very close and both parties hope to have everything wrapped up by the weekend.

Reviewing Garcia’s Qualification for the Sevilla Job

Sevilla agrees

Part of Garcia Pimienta’s perceived value to Sevilla is his ability to work with little resources.

As such, he will be bringing three of his staff from Las Palmas with him to Sevilla.

According to Football Espana, ‘Los Nervionenses’ had been in talks with Jagoba Arrasate and Enzo Maresca at various points.

However, when neither of those options worked out, the Catalan coach will take over the ailing giants.

Pimienta left Barca Atletic three years ago after spending nearly three decades coaching at La Masia.

He then took Las Palmas up from Segunda division in his first full season as the manager of the club.

After an impressive first half of the season, their terrible eight-game losing streak threatened to take Las Palmas back into the relegation battle.

However, he was able to keep them above the relegation zone, finishing 16th in the table of the Spanish league.

Perks of Succeeding Quique Sanchez Flores at Sevilla

Sevilla coach

Pimienta will be taking over from the departing Sevilla coach Quique Sanchez Flores, the club’s fifth manager in the last two seasons.

His style of football is already being praised by some Sevilla and La Liga fans over social media as being strategic.

Also, he is said to be a coach who knows how to build a team’s attack from the back.

Garcia Pimienta’s deal for the coming season will come with an extension for another year if Sevilla meets certain objectives.

However, these objectives are not specified and known to the public.
