The AMVCA red carpet host was ace broadcaster and Master of Ceremony, IK Osakioduwa.
The night’s highlights were the awards, however, some other moments were exceptional and entertaining as well.
There’s been no shortage of fashion, surprise wins, and embarrassing speeches from celebrities who graced the AMVCA event.
The AMVCA red carpet was the center of attention for ground-breaking fashion statements, from elegant dresses to old sacks.
Here are some of the most memorable moments at the 2024 AMVCA:
Toke kisses Uti
The red carpet, hosted by Toke Makinwa, was the starting point for surprises at the AMVCA 2024. Toke Makinwa spoke to celebrities and guests including Joke Silva and Uche Jombo.
But Toke Makinwa and Uti Nwachukwu sealed the deal with a kiss on the lips as she prepared to end the show.
IK and the gang jig
IK Osakioduwa has been the host of this prestigious AMVCA since the inception of the event. The host has always brought the drama to the event and this year was no exception.
After his introductory speech, he invited Jide Kene Achufusi, Tobi Bakre, and some other celebrities for an unrehearsed surprise dance.
Tiwa Savage making a surprise appearance
The sight of Tiwa Savage making a cameo to present an award was worth watching. What was even worth watching was her unable to read the teleprompter.
Fortunately, to save the day, she had her reading glasses on hand. However, she couldn’t say the name Sihle Hlophe, as Best Documentary winner of Lobola: A Bride’s True Price?
Love Me Jeje live
Another outstanding moment from the 2024 AMVCA was from Shaffy Bello and Seyi Sodimu. These two brought down the house with a live performance of their classic hit, Love Me Jeje.
Awkward speech by Demola Adedoyin
Breath of Life actor Demola Adedoyin won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film. He wished to give a speech on chasing dreams but quickly recalled Lupita Nyong’o’s speech from the Oscars about valid dreams.
While at it, he was promptly taken away from the stage. It was an embarrassing moment.
Chimezie stole the show with his tears after winning the Trailblazer Award
Chimezie Imo, the young Breath of Life actor came completely undone crying on stage after he won the Trailblazer Award. Shortly after, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, his friend went on stage to support him as he grabbed the trophy while crying uncontrollably.
It was indeed a beautiful moment to behold.
Iya Rainbow winning the Industry Merit Award
For three decades, Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, has been celebrated for her work as an actress. When she stepped onstage to accept the Industry Merit Award, her family was at her side.
Wale Ojo leads in Praises
After Wale Ojo wins the Best Actor in the movie, Breath of Life, out of excitement proceeds to singing a Christian song.
