Former US President Donald Trump survived a recent assassination attempt during a campaign event in Pennsylvania. He said that he should have been dead while recounting how he survived the attempt on July 15.
Trump shared his life-threatening experience in an interview with the New York Post while on a private plane. He was currently heading to Milwaukee for a National Convention.
According to him, the doctor had never seen anything like that, calling it a miracle. He had a white bandage on his right ear, but his staff prevented anyone from taking photos.
Trump revealed that had he not turned his head to the right, he would have died from a headshot.
However, the bullet hit his right ear, tore a small chunk of his ear, and left blood splattering on his forehead and cheek.
He told his interviewers that he still wanted to continue speaking to supporters, but Secret Service agents prevented him.
The agents said it wasn’t safe to continue and that they needed to take him to a hospital.
Furthermore, the agents marveled and impressed Trump by flying in like linebackers immediately after the shooting started.
He also sustained a large bruise on his right forearm, which he opened his white long-sleeve shirt to reveal.
Trump Clarifies Confusion About His Shoes
Further, the interviewer asked him why he shouted, “Wait, I want to get my shoes,” amid the commotion.
He clarified that in a bid to protect him, the agents hit him so hard that his shoes fell off. However, while smiling, he said that his shoes are usually tight. So, it came as a surprise for him when they fell off.
Additionally, he praised the Secret Service agents for their swift response and for being able to kill the shooter.
The agents gunned down the shooter on the roof about 130 yards away from the stage where Trump stood. A shot between the eyes took him down.
Eventually, Trump spoke about the incredible photo of him raising his fist and saying, “Fight” three consecutive times.
He said he wanted to continue speaking, but the Secret Service agents led him away in an armored SUV.
Many people saw it as the most iconic photo, and they were right.
