Raphael Varane made it public on Tuesday that his stay in Man-U was going to end with this season. His three-year contract would expire, leaving him open to new deals.
Varane, 31, joined the club after leaving Madrid in 2021 for an initial fee of 34 million Euros ($43 million).
He has made 93 appearances and scored twice.
The former France defender was with United when they won the Carabao Cup in 2023.
Varane played excellent football last season when he was paired with Lisandro Martinez.
Consequently, they aided the club to finish third place.
However, he didn’t quite meet up to expectations this season.
The reason might be due to injury issues, or other issues within Man-U’s defense.
His career in United has been rough due to injuries.
So he has not played again since the club’s 4-3 defeat by Chelsea on April 4.
Before the end of the campaign, Varane hopes to play again.
