17-year-old Cole Lam inspires young children with his YouTube piano lessons. The young boy centres his music lessons on classic songs.
Moreover, his YouTube channel has a million followers. Cole’s YouTube lessons inspire many children in primary schools to play a musical instrument.
Cole Lam said social media has boosted his confidence in passing on musical knowledge.
He also said, “Being able to do this is a special thing, and to know that music is safe for years to come is always good.”
Meanwhile, Cole is currently studying to become a jazz pianist and composer.
Cole’s mother noticed his musical talent while playing with a toy piano at four at nursery school. He soon began playing publicly at London railway stations.
However, Cole played for fun until the video at Bohemian Rhapsody St Pancras Station went viral. He got lots of online attention and started his YouTube channel.
Cole Lam’s video on Queen’s classic anthem at 12 years old got almost 125 million views. It was later reposted on the official Queen’s X page.
Cole Lam and Friends Stirs School Music Project
Impressively, Cole Lam and his friends from The Purcell School for Young Musicians created the Norfolk Primary Orchestra.
They led the Orchestra initiative after visiting four different schools.
Norfolk Primary Orchestra is a part of Impulse, a project initiative pioneered by The Purcell School for Young Musicians.
Moreover, Head of Purcell School composition Alison Cox said Cole and his friends are great music teachers.
Alison said students often asked her to take them out to work with younger children in schools.
She noted that children in primary classes need adult teachers, although they get more excited when taught by young people.
The head of Purcell’s composition said, “Cole has all these followers because he does things in a way that young people understand.”
She described Cole Lam as an energetic musician to whom young people can easily relate.
